LAY YOUR NEEDS DOWN
12 So she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” 1 Kings 17:12
Many Christians come up with different excuses why they can’t give. Some say, “Lord, I don’t have enough and my needs have to be met.” Someone else says, “I don’t have enough. My son just gained admission to the university.” Another person says, “I don’t have enough; my wife just lost her job so I need to set up a supermarket for her.” Yet another person says, “I need to pay my rent, Lord.” If you are in the “I don’t have enough, but I have needs,” category, then remember the story of the widow of Zarephath who gave her last.
The Lord had spoken to her because the Lord told Elijah that He had told the widow to sustain him. So the woman knew that she was to sustain Elijah. When Elijah came, she said in effect: “I have just enough food to sustain my son and myself.” She placed her needs above what God had told her. She had to get a revelation that in order to have your needs met, you have to be willing to lay your needs down. It is pretty much like the resurrection principle. The thing has to “die” first and be useless to you before it can come “alive” in a multiplied form to be useful to you.
Maybe God has told you the reason He has given you money is so you can build Him a dwelling place. He really is opening up a means of getting money to you and through you. This is what you must see, rather than see it as God wanting to get money from you! If you are going to have more than enough, you have to be willing to lay your needs down.
Confession: Father, I dare to have more than enough; therefore, I am willing to lay my needs down. As I place my needs down I see You opening up means of getting money to me and through me. Hallelujah!
